Performer Bios
Bio

Parker Van Ostrand is an American pianist born and raised in Sacramento, California.
In the 2024-25 season, Parker performed with the San Diego Symphony, the Sacramento Philharmonic, Symphony Parnassus, and the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra. Previous highlights include performances with the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra, the Camellia Symphony, Symphony Parnassus, the South Arkansas Symphony, the Shreveport Symphony, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music Orchestra as winner of their 2023 Concerto Competition.
Parker was also a winner of the 2023 PianoTexas Academy Concerto Competition and received the Gold Medal in the 71st Wideman International Piano Competition. In November 2022, Parker collaborated with Yuja Wang in a two-piano performance at the SFCM Gala. That summer, he toured with the California Youth Symphony across Poland, Hungary, and the Czech Republic. In 2020, Parker got Third Place and won the Best Sonata Award at the 10th National Chopin Piano Competition.
This past summer, Parker performed at the opening of the Michael Milken Institute in Washington DC, and in a private home concert in La Jolla. Next season, Parker will be performing again with the San Diego Symphony at the Rady Shell, as well as with the Auburn Symphony and a tour to Japan with the California Youth Symphony.
Parker has been studying with Yoshikazu Nagai and Garrick Ohlsson at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. He has also been mentored by Michael Tilson Thomas since 2023. His previous teachers are Sarah Chan, Natsuki Fukasawa, Linda Nakagawa, and Jon Nakamatsu. Besides piano, he enjoys eating and trying new sushi spots, a heavy lift sesh, competitive game nights, and water sports.
Bio

Caroline Durham Jorden began her violin journey at New England Conservatory Preparatory School in Boston and has since studied with Deborah Moench, Eugene Watanabe, Monte Belknap, and Alex Woods.
She has received many awards from the Utah Symphony Youth Guild, Music Teachers National Association, Utah Music Teachers Association, and has soloed with multiple orchestra in Utah including the Brigham Young University Philharmonic and Utah Valley Symphony in 2024. Caroline also performed internationally as a featured soloist for the Ballet West Academy in Berlin, Germany (2018) and as a performer in the BYU China Spectacular tour (2019). Caroline performs frequently and can be seen in the Billings Symphony, the Candlelight concert series, and as one of the founding members of the Aspen Grove Trio, which won the MTNA National Chamber Music Competition in 2024. Most of all she loves performing with her husband, Tanner Jorden.
A recent graduate from Brigham Young University in Violin Performance at Brigham Young University, she will be attending the Manhattan School of Music to pursue a Master's degree this fall. When not performing, Caroline loves going on long walks, hiking, traveling, and watching videos about elephants.
Bio

Shortly before leaving his home in Montana, Tanner Jorden received First Prize at the Sir Donald Runnicles Young Artist Competition. In 2023, Jorden won Second Prize at the Music Teacher National Association (MTNA) Young Artist National Piano Competition, being the youngest among finalists who were deep into their graduate studies. Last year, he won First Prize in the MTNA National Chamber Music Competition with the Aspen Grove Trio as well as Second Prize at the PianoArts North American Piano Competition.
Jorden is a frequent soloist with professional symphonies. In the last season alone, he performed Prokofiev Concerto No. 3 with the BYU Philharmonic and the Utah Valley Symphony. Shortly after, he performed Mozart Concerto in C. K. 467 with Yaniv Danur and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra as a result of his success in PianoArts. Most recently, he performed Rachmaninoff Concerto No. 2 with Sir Donald Runnicles and the Montana Youth Symphony as well as Rachmaninoff Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini with Anne Harrigan and the Billings Symphony.
Jorden is a recent graduate of Brigham Young University, where he earned a Bachelor's in Piano Performance studying with Scott Holden. This fall, he will commence his Master's degree studies at The Julliard School in the studio of Yoheved Kaplinsky. An avid mountain biker and outdoorsman, Jorden believes that time away from the instrument is best spent finding oneself in nature.
